Five from five in Sydney

27 March 2011: Madison brought home five gold medals from the five events she entered at the 2011 NSW State Championships. On top of that, she also broke the ten year Australian under 20 record in the 800m.

The 800 has always been a "bogey" event for Madison, but last year at the Nationals she came within a whisker of this particular record. She had to settle for the Under 18 title instead. But last weekend, three weeks from this year's National Athletics Championships, she secured the record with a time of 2:00.76.

After spending a fair a bit of time in the Eastern States since returning from New Zealand, the benefits of being with her coach, Louise Sauvage is showing. Unfortunately, the extensive travel over the last few months has not been kind to Madison. She's out injured again with the pressure sore problem that she struggled with late last year.

All the same, Madison is adamant she will perform well at the Nationals in two weeks time. Among her targets will be a sub two minute time for the 800m.

Madison currently holds 24 Australian, two Oceania and three World Underage records. Good luck in Melbourne.
