Madison takes a big step towards London
The Games saw 57 World Records and 173 Championship records set. China, with the biggest team there were also the biggest medal takers with 58 in all – 21 gold, 22 silver and 15 bronze. Australia finished tenth on the Medal table with 8 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze. Heading into the Paralympics everyone has been keeping an eye on host, Great Britain. They were more than credible with a 38 medal haul – 12 gold, 9 silver and 17 bronze – second place overall.
In her first World Championships, Madison was not among these but she was more than happy with her results. Making the finals in all three of her events, and finishing fifth in all these finals is something she is proud of. She is also happy with the fact she broke an Australian Open and two Oceania records while there.
As many of you know, her preparation was plagued with injury but as far as she’s concerned, that’s no excuse. She’s aiming high and intends to be right in the mix in London.
